The photo on the left was taken just after he joined up at Surry Courthouse for the Surry Light Artillery as a harness-maker, and the photo on the right was taken about 1920. George Washington Lafayette Moody was born 175 years ago on today, February 4, 1834. He died in 1921 and is buried at Surry.
He was a holy man who is yet remembered in his native Surry Courthouse, Virginia as one to be emulated. May he rest in peace and rise in Glory.
